| To set the stage for all who are undertaking the challenge of working to provide quality education for our youth, words of profound wisdom from Imam W. Deen Mohammed follows: |
"The teenagers seem so full of energy and so happy, but our youth are the most unhappy and miserable. They want to hide the torment inside because there is no peace with their family and peers; and they are pretending that they are happy. They are telling the parents in the establishment that they do not need or want us anymore because we don't recognize you.
We have our comrades, our peers, our homeys, we have our power and peace loving sense of community here in our own world, and not in yours anymore.
Their disappointment is a serious mind-altering disappointment because of their human pride. You see, G-d created them for honor and human treatment in nature; to be a member of the human family, loved and aided by the human family when they need help. And they are extremely disappointed, they are saying to us as parents in the establishment: You are not moral, you are cheaters, you are liars, you are deceivers and hypocrites. And we can't read their condition, because they are not bad, they are protesters. Their spirit has made them protest family and government, and you can't turn them around.
Islam is the human property as G-d created it. And there is no conversion to Islam, there is a return to our original nature, because Peace is the hope for all human souls. So we try to distinguish or disguise what is really wrong with us. Our youth seem to be violent and self destructive, because they disturb the peace and make trouble. And what should we do about that? Should we build more prisons, lock them up and give them a life style to exterminate themselves? Because their protest is a protest that is asking for peace.
Like a little child, when they are dissatisfied with being ignored in the house, they start breaking up things. If they can't get a response by peaceful means, then G-d made us to get it by violent means.
So they seem self-destructive. But not from destruction as a motive or a desire, their peace is disturbed They are telling us that we have been judged by them and condemned. And their protest is to awaken the awareness that you have been condemned for failing your human nature, you have not respected or treated them as equal members in the home or in society. And you help is rejected because you did not confess the wrong doings and wrong treatment."
